Establishing and Maintaining Medicaid Eligibility upon Release from Public Institutions
This report describes the results of a program in Oklahoma, initiated in July 2007, aimed at helping inmates with serious mental illness in three correctional facilities complete applications for Federal disability benefits and Medicaid in order to facilitate their access to mental health treatment upon discharge. Many low-income individuals with severe mental illness leave state institutions without health insurance and therefore without financial access to the treatment they need to live successfully in their communities. more...

Suicide Prevention: Teen Suicide Prevention, We Can Help Us Poster
These posters were created as part of the "We Can Help US" teen suicide prevention campaign. The campaign was developed from the insight that many teens encounter the same tough times, but many also develop positive solutions to help overcome them. Whatever problem they face, the campaign empowers teens by reminding them that there are ways to get through it. Working Together to Help Youth Thrive in Schools and Communities: Systems of Care National Children's Mental Health Awareness Day May 7, 2009
This report provides an overview of the systems of care program and how youth and their families improve on various behavioral and mental health outcomes a result of receiving services in systems of care. Findings from the national evaluation of the systems of care program are highlighted for youth aged 14 - 18 years old. This brief report demonstrates how youth improve academically, behaviorally, and emotionally after receiving services for 12 months in federally funded systems of care. more...

Addressing the Mental Health Needs of Young Children and Their Families (National Children's Mental Health Awareness Day-May 6,2010)
This report articulates what a system of care is and how young children, youth, and their families thrive as a result of systems of care. Findings from the national evaluation of systems of care youth for children 8 years old and younger illustrate how systems of care result in improvement for you children and their families. These improvements include fewer changes in afterschool and childcare programs, better emotional and behavioral health, less strain experienced by families, and less work missed/duties neglected as a result of their child's emotional or behavioral problems. This evaluation report highlights why young children's social-emotional well-being is important and recognizes the importance of mental health needs to a young child's healthy development and a family's well-being. more...
