Community Support Programs Branch

Evidence-Based Practices Resource Centers

The Community Support Programs (CSP) Branch does not currently support any specific evidenced-based practices (EBPs) resource or technical assistance centers. Resources remain available at two previously funded technical assistance centers:

National Association of State Mental Health Program Directors (NASMHPD) Evidence-Based Practice Center

To aid state efforts to implement EBPs, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) funded a National Evidence-Based Practice Center (EBP Center), operated by the National Association of State Mental Health Program Directors (NASMHPD) Research Institute, Center for Quality and Accountability. The center has facilitated communication among stakeholders, collected and documented relevant resources, and provided technical assistance to states regarding the implementation of EBPs through September 2006.

Evaluation Center at the Human Services Research Institute (HSRI)

Between 1993 and 2006, the CSP Branch funded the Evaluation Center at Human Services Research Institute (HSRI). It assists states and other stakeholders to conduct high quality program evaluations and to use the results of mental health services research and evaluation to continuously improve the public mental health system. This center has materials to help stakeholders to identify EBPs, understand the evidence underlying them, develop new EBPs, and evaluate the effectiveness of implementing EBPs.
