Mental Health ProgramsAbout CMHSJeffrey A. Buck, Ph.D.
Jeffrey A. Buck, Ph.D., is a clinical psychologist and the Chief of the Survey, Analysis, and Financing branch of the federal Center for Mental Health Services (CMHS). Dr. Buck's office collects and disseminates information on providers and consumers of mental health services, and the financing of such services, and provides technical assistance to States and others concerning these areas. Dr. Buck contributed to the work of the President’s Mental Health Commission and was a section editor of the Surgeon General’s Report on Mental Health. Before coming to SAMHSA, he worked in the Office of Research in the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. His publications have addressed issues with the financing and utilization of mental health services, mental health insurance coverage, and mental health services in Medicaid. Dr. Buck holds a bachelor's degree in economics from Cornell University. He received his doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Kent State University in 1979. In 1982, he completed a NIMH postdoctoral fellowship in Public Policy and Applied Social Science Research at Carnegie-Mellon University. |
