Basic Medical Information for Non-Medical Providers
Health problems cause homelessness, and homelessness
causes health problems. Because homelessness complicates
efforts to treat health problems, it is important for
service providers and outreach workers to have a basic
understanding of these issues.
Assessing Health, Promoting Wellness: A Guide for Non-Medical
Providers of Care for People Experiencing Homelessness
(Kraybill & Morrison, 2007) was developed jointly
by SAMHSA's Homelessness Resource Center and the Projects
for Assistance in Transition from Homelessness (PATH)
program. Below are excerpts from this soon to be published
guide.
