Evidence-Based Practices Grant Programs
The Community Support Programs (CSP) Branch, in collaboration with the National Institute of Mental Health, initiated two grant efforts to help states adopt evidence-based practices (EBPs) and evaluate their implementation. These grant programs are:
State Implementation of Evidence-Based Practices
The State Implementation of Evidence-Based Practices grant program, co-sponsored with the NIMH, was designed to help states plan activities bridging science and service. Nine states were awarded grants in the summer of 2003 for approximately $100,000 each. Five additional planning grants and six larger research grants were awarded in the summer of 2005.

State Training and Evaluation of Evidence-Based Practices
The State Training and Evaluation of Evidence-Based Practices grant program was designed to support states to implement evidence-based practices (EBP) through use of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s (SAMHSA’s) EBP KITs.
Funding supported provision for state-of-the-art training and continuing education to mental health service providers and other stakeholders implementing EBPs. Grantees were required to implement and evaluate the implementation of each EBP in two or more communities within the state. Nine states were awarded grants in September 2003 for up to $325,000 per year.
