What is National Professional Social Work Month? National Professional Social Work Month is an annual observance that draws attention to the efforts of professional social workers who are improving society by working with, and advocating for, individuals in need. What is the purpose of this observance? The observance of social work month provides an annual opportunity for us to pay tribute to these professionals and their commitment to society. Showing appreciation for the work of these dedicated professionals is an important part of supporting and encouraging their roles as educators, advocates, and researchers. What is the theme of the 2003 observance? Preserving Rights and Strengthening Voices is the theme of this year's social work month. The 2003 celebration marks the 20th anniversary of the observance. Why is social work so important? Professional social workers have played a valuable role in our society for more than a century. The National Association of Social Workers credits them with preserving rights and strengthening voices for under-recognized and underrepresented populations. |
