    Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration's (SAMHSA's) FASD Center for Excellence
    The mission of the FASD Center for Excellence is to facilitate the development and improvement of prevention, treatment, and care systems in the United States by providing national leadership and by facilitating collaboration in the field. The Web site provides a community calendar for events that are related to FASD, alcohol use during pregnancy, and women’s issues related to alcohol use. A resource page includes a searchable database containing information on thousands of FASD-related resources, including audiotapes, books, CD-ROMs, newsletters, magazines, newspaper and journal articles, pamphlets and booklets, posters, videos, slide shows, and Web-based materials, and more.

    National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA)
    NIAAA, a component of the National Institutes of Health, leads the national effort to reduce alcohol-related problems and conducts and supports research in a wide range of scientific areas that include FAS. The Web site provides information about NIAAA; questions and answers about alcohol abuse and alcoholism; scientific articles; research, funding, and training programs; clinical trials; databases; publications; conferences and events; and related resources.

    Women, Infants, and Children (WIC)
    The WIC program provides Federal grants to States for supplemental foods, health care referrals, and nutrition education for low-income pregnant, breastfeeding, and non-breastfeeding postpartum women, and to infants and children up to age 5 who are found to be at nutritional risk. The web site provides State contacts and information about how to apply for WIC, WIC benefits and services, WIC funding and program data, and resources for citizens and health and nutrition professionals.

    Child Care Bureau
    The Child Care Bureau of the Administration for Children & Families within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services administers Federal funds to States, Territories, and tribes to enhance the quality, affordability, and availability of child care for all families. The web site provides resources for parents and providers, recent news, information about new Federal government initiatives, a calendar of events, grant and funding opportunities, and access to a Child Care Technical Assistance Network.

    National Organization on Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (NOFAS)
    NOFAS is a nonprofit organization that is working to eliminate birth defects caused by alcohol consumption during pregnancy and to improve the quality of life for affected individuals and families. NOFAS develops resources and programs to educate families, health care professionals, educators, the media, and the general public about FASD. NOFAS is dedicated to fulfilling its mission through prevention, education, intervention, and advocacy.

    National Information Center for Children and Youth with Disabilities (NICHCY)
    NICHCY is an information clearinghouse that provides information on disabilities and disability-related issues, with a special focus on children and youth with disabilities (birth to age 22). The web site provides easy access to publications, State resources, the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, and answers to frequently asked questions. Includes information in Spanish.
