If there are other events that should be listed, let CMHS Consumer Affairs know. 1996 December 14-18 Entitled "Creating Healing Alternatives for Real Health Reform" and sponsored by the National Mental Health Consumer Self-Help Clearinghouse with support from CMHS, this is the 12th annual conference given by and for consumers/survivors. Contact Kathleen Douglass at (800) 553-4539 extension 256. 1997 January 9-10 Sponsored by ComCare and the Arizona Health Sciences Center, this meeting will focus on the findings of 8 years of MacArthur Foundation-funded research examining issues of competence of persons to make their own decisions, the risk of violence sometimes associated with mental health problems, and the role of compulsory treatment.
