A bar graph showing the employment status of mental health clients in 2004, by age. For clients ages 18–20, half were not in the labor force, and 18 percent were employed. For clients ages 21–64, the largest group (40 percent) was unemployed and looking for work, and 23 percent were employed. For clients ages 65 and older, 73 percent were not in the labor force, and 8 percent were employed. Overall, 21 percent of clients were employed, 37 percent were unemployed and looking for work, and 42 percent were not in the labor force.
