A bar graph showing the lifetime prevalence of five mood disorders. Overall, 11.5 percent of the survey respondents had experienced some type of mood disorder. The most common was a major depressive episode (8.6 percent). 7.7 percent had experienced major depressive episode with severity; 6.2 percent had experienced dysthymia; 3.4 percent had experienced dysthymia with major depressive episode with severity; and 1.6 percent had experienced any bipolar disorder.
