A map of the United States showing inpatient and residential treatment additions per 100,000 civilian population, by State. In 2002, Wyoming, North Dakota, and Oklahoma had the highest rate of growth (1,100 or more beds per 100,000 people). The next highest rate of growth occurred in States along the Mississippi River, Pennsylvania, and Alaska. The least growth occurred in the Southwest and Northwest.
