    Other Useful Information

Veterans Administration Adds Hotline for Health Benefits: The Veterans Administration has established a toll-free hotline for information about newly eligible guidelines that expand medical benefits to millions of former military personnel. Under eligibility changes that took effect October 1, virtually all qualified veterans will be able to get outpatient care, prescription medicines and a full range of medical benefits. The toll-free number, (877) 222-8387, is answered from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Counselors can send enrollment packages to veterans or provide the location and phone numbers of hundreds of new VA clinics.

The Consumer-Operated Services Program web site - www.cstprogram.org - was developed by the Missouri Institute of Mental Health's Program in Consumer Studies and Training. The site provides up-to-date information on the multi-site project, information on the study sites and a range of mailing lists and chat rooms.

Just for Kids web site is now available on the SAMHSA's National Mental Health Information Center web site. Check out this web site especially adapted for kids and offering links to other government kids sites - mentalhealth.samhsa.gov/kidsarea

New Web Site Links Public to HHS Initiative To Eliminate Racial, Ethnic Health Disparities

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is launching a new site to make available information about its Initiative to Eliminate Racial and Ethnic Disparities in Health - a new strategy unveiled earlier this year to eliminate racial and ethnic health disparities in six key areas of health status by the year 2010. The new web site is now available - raceandhealth.hhs.gov. Users will be able to access information about racial and ethnic health disparities in the U.S. as well as background material on the various components and goals of the health disparities initiative.
