- Each year, depression affects about 17 million American
adults; that’s almost one in every 10. (American Psychiatric Association, 1998 and National Mental Health Association, 1997)
- Depression can occur at any age but most often appears for the first time between the ages of 24 and 44. (American Psychiatric Association, 1998 and National Depressive &
